MTLB#1 from the Ad Club of Metropolitan Washington

The quite-possibly-anticipated first episode. We feature highlights from Tom Laughon’s luncheon presentation to the DC Ad Club entitled “big ideas, creativity and innovation”. Tom is the founder of Catch Your Limit Consulting.

We also have the latest DC Ad Club news and events as well as our “Deep Quote of the Month.” by Marshall McLuhan

Big thanks to Ad Club members and voice actors extraordinaire Sheldon Smith and Kirk Penbirthy. They’re the great voice-over talent that did our intro and bumpers. You can also find them on a helpful casting site called ProducersHandyDandy.com.

Giant shout-out to Clean Cuts Music and Sound Design for providing studio services for our intros and outros.

The song “Replaced by Robots” courtesy of Lejeune.

I was at the actual Ad Club presentation/luncheon when Tom Laughon spoke. He was engaging and charming (must be that southern accent?), and a lot of that comes through in this podcast as well.

I ponder his main question frequently: why do we bring the same people together repeatedly when we need NEW ideas? Yes, those same people may hold a certain amount of institutional knowledge -- and that's valuable -- but may not be conducive to garnering new perspectives. In fact, seems counterintuitive. Regardless, it happens time & time again.
